Wine and Love Thursday
Things that make me want a drink:
-There has been some serious (and seriously uncharacteristic) crime in Pittsburgh lately. D’s school sent out an email about 4(!) armed robberies in the past week and then a woman from work had her house broken into. What is going on!? The armed robberies really scared me because they’re all around the school and in our neighborhood. We agreed that walking home (for either of us) was not a good idea until they caught the people responsible in these attacks.
-This means that I don’t walk home every day, which I had really been enjoying, and instead have to ride the slow, crowded, noisy bus, which I don’t enjoy. The bus *to* work in the morning isn’t so bad, it’s the one on the way home that I can’t stand.
-For some reason I have been ridiculously hungry late. To the point where I mainly want to NOT be hungry any more FTLOG didn’t I *just* eat something?! It’s harder to make good snack decisions when I want to hoover up the entire vending machine just so my stomach will stop growling already. Maybe it’s because I’ve been working out more? Whatever is going on, I’d like it to stop!
Things I'm loving:
-I’ve gotten a veritable flood of freelance work lately. Usually January is pretty slow but I’ve been slammed with several huge projects in the past week. This is also a bit of a “wine” if I’m being honest but I’m choosing to “love” it for the amount of money I’ll be able to put into my trip fund!
-My new gym is so awesome that I want to go practically every day. I have to remind myself to take a rest day! They have fancy treadmills, zumba, spin classes, yoga and pilates, and they’re so close to my house that I can’t make an excuse not to go, even if it’s just for 45 minutes. It’s also open 24 hours, which is really convenient.
-This past weekend I tried more new things! More details to come, but I’m loving pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I think I might try a spin class next week, but I’m totally scared. Has anyone ever done one? Will I want to die?
-Lunch dates with D. I love that I work so close to him that it’s possible for us to meet up for lunch. On Tuesday we went to a new restaurant and it was such a lovely midday treat. I had a margherita pizza, which was leftovers for lunch on Wednesday! I try to eat a salad for lunch every day but sometimes warm pizza really hits the spot.
-Speaking of doctors, I have an appointment on Saturday to get my eyes checked and I might pick out some new glasses! I’m loving having good vision insurance.

Yea for a mid-day day with D. :) I am sure that brightens your day big time!
Wine: Recovery is taking forever. I want to feel like myself again!
Love: I feel really lucky that I have such an awesome mom that took amazing care of me.
aw man, i wish i could see chris for lunch occasionally! how nice.
i ALSO wish i was that motivated to go to the gym!! i'm jealous of your drive :)
Spinning = awesome. I even convinced Luke to go with me this week, and even though he likes to play Mr. Tough Guy who thinks everything is easy, his soaking wet shirt at the end of class said otherwise haha.
It's a great workout, your butt will hurt after the first couple classes from the seat, but after that you get used to it - I highly recommend! :)
Go to spin! You will looooove it! (You may hate it the day after, lol.) It's so great.
I know the feeling of being hungry all the time - I just went through that. It seems that it was just a phase and now I'm over it, so hopefully yours will be over soon :)
I'm sorry you have to deal with the nearby crime. That is scary and awful! Hoping you and D stay safe :)
I think you will love the spin class! It is fun and you can set it to as hard as YOU want it. Although it is nice to have someone yelling at you to push harder!
I laughed when I saw that you wrote "even if it's only for only 45 minutes" ... ummmm, I consider 45 minutes a pretty solid workout. That's ok, I'll pat myself on the back for my own reasons. We joined a gym on Monday after work and I've gone to the gym the past two mornings. Win!
