Wow is it Thursday again already? Having Monday off has me short on time and totally confused. Although if it means we’re one day closer to Friday I’ll take it!
Things that have me reaching for a glass of wine:
-My wonderful hetero-life-partner’s birthday is on Sunday and I’m not in Austin to help her celebrate. It hurts to be so far from my wonderful peeps and, worse yet, not know when/if I’ll get back there for good.
-My hamstring has been acting up again, much to my chagrin. If I don’t run for a day or two it doesn’t actively bother me, but once I hit the treadmill again I feel it. I really don’t want to have to go back to physical therapy.
-School is officially back in session and that means that D has no free time any more, not at night OR on the weekends. Is it May yet?
Things that I'm loving
-My parents, whose spring break is at the same time as D’s (the perks of being a professor, I tell ya), are coming to visit in March! I’m very excited to see them and show them around Pittsburgh. Also, I’m really glad to have something to look forward to. Having nothing fun on the horizon really bums me out.
-I just bought a Living Social voucher to try out a gym by my house. I’ve had it up to here with the gym at D’s school and decided to try out a place that’s within walking distance of my front door. I went last night and the treadmills are SO. NICE. Not only do they let you run longer than 30 minutes at a time, they’re touch screen and have built-in fans. Nevermind that I felt like a caveman trying to figure them out. If I like this gym enough during my 30-day trial period I might just fork over the cash for a membership. Maaaybe. How much do you think is too much to pay per month? D thinks I’m crazy for being willing to spend any money when I could use the gym at school for free.
-Downtown Abbey is back. How I Met Your Mother is back. New Girl is back. For someone who doesn’t even have cable, I sure do get excited about my shows. I watch them on my computer with headphones in while D studies on the couch next to me. That said, is it just me or has Glee totally jumped the shark? I'm not even interested enough to watch their Christmas show, which I heard was awful.
-Operation: Do Things In Pittsburgh is going really well! Last weekend we went ice skating at Schenley Park and the weekend before that we went hiking at Raccoon Creek State Park. Even in the middle of winter there are a lot of things to do outdoors around here!
One more thing: The winner of the Shabby Apple giveaway is April! Thanks for playing, everyone!!

How much I'd be willing to pay for a gym is directly proportional to (1) how often I go there and (2) how many amenities I use.
Example 1: If a gym is free, but too far away and has outdated equipment, it's a disservice if I never use it. Who cares if it's free if I'm still fat?!
Example 2: If a gym costs $75 per month, has a weight room, cardio room, exercise classes, juice bar, rock climbing wall, steam room, sauna, pool, basketball court, sand volleyball court and a restaurant and I only want to use the treadmill for 30 minutes, 3x per week, I say it's too expensive.
Example 3: If a gym costs $100 per month and has a weight room, cardio room, steam room and showers. And I am either in the cardio room or weight room 5x per week and unwinding in the steam room 3x per week, then to me, it's worth the price.
Make sense?
I haven't ever paid more than about $29 bucks a month for a gym; this was one that was open 24 hours and I actually went at all kinds of crazy hours so for me it was well worth it. AND it was five minutes from my house. Now my "gym" is in my garage but it's limited and I miss my stair stepper so even though it's free I don't use it as much as I should... I need to, though.
I hope your hamstring feels/gets better soon. I hate having workout related pains. Worst thing ever.
Oh, and Glee? I finished season two via netflix just because I was bored, but I haven't watched a lick of it this season. I'm kind of over it...
And thanks for playing today =)
Do you watch Downton Abbey online through PBS? I get it from my best friend, whose dad steals it off the internet as soon as it hits Britain, so I have no idea how other Americans are so into it/able to access it. I think this also means that what your seeing is what I watched several months ago -- Season 2? I wish we had more access to British TV altogether, which in my opinion is way superior.
Ugh, that is annoying about your hamstring. :/ I hope it gets better!
My wine is that it's so cold today. -35 with the windchill. it hurt to walk to work today.
My love is that my mom is coming tonight and she will be taking care of me this weekend while I am recovering from my sinus surgery! Not loving the surgery part, but definitely loving the having mom here part.
