Wine and Love Thursday

It’s time for another Wine and Love Thursday!

Things that have me craving some wine:
-It’s January.  Which means it’s cold and dreary out, money is tight, and I don’t have a fun vacation planned in the near future.  January blahs?  Check.

-We’ve pretty much decided not to move.  We went and looked at a place on Saturday and while it was nice, it wasn’t nice enough to justify spending the thousands of dollars it would cost to break our lease and move out early.  There are a few big things we’re saving for and spending a chunk of change on breaking the lease and moving out would really cut into achieving those goals.  Unless something else terrible happens (please no more rodents or other pests!), or we find an amazing apartment in an ideal location at the best price, we’ll stay put until August.  Sigh.

-School is about to start again for D, on January 16.  Which is a day that I have off.  Great timing, huh?  A 3-day weekend for me but he has class.  I’m not pleased about this.

-The gym has been ridiculously crowded lately, probably with some folks who are tackling new years resolutions.  Also, suddenly the treadmills are all automatically programmed so it won’t let you run for more than 30 minutes at a time.  I almost always run for more than 30 minutes, and it’s really annoying to have to stop the belt, lose all that data, and reset the program so that I get another 30 minutes on the clock.  I know that’s a little thing to kvetch about but sometimes I’m really into my run and then to have to suddenly stop and fiddle with the machine really interrupts my running mojo!

Things that I’m loving:
-As far as weather goes, this has been a very mild January so far.  I’ve been able to go for a walk outside during lunch most days, and it’s been sunny and pleasant.  I know we’re in for some snow this weekend so I’ll take all the mild weather we can get!

-Getting back into the swing of things at the gym (and outside on the weekends) feels so good.  I ran a few times over break before I got sick, but once the cold from hell really hit I didn’t have the energy to work out at all.  I’m loving getting back into it, and I’m glad that I didn’t regress as far as I thought I would with a 1.5 week hiatus.

-The cold from hell is finally GONE.  I can breathe again!

-I have MLK Day off, and then a random Friday in April as well.  Sure beats going from January to the end of May with no vacation days in sight!

-I have the best boyfriend ever.  He really is the sweetest, nicest, most thoughtful person on earth.  Not just to me, but to everyone.  I’m so lucky to have him and better yet, I’ve fooled him in to thinking he’s lucky to have me!

PLEASE give me some of your workout motivation. I am struggling lately and feeling disgusting.

I'm sorry you're not moving immediately...but it sounds like you're making a well-thought out/wise decision for whatever you're saving up for. What are you saving up for, anything fun???

You can add a bachelorette party in Nashville or Louisville as a trip to look forward to on your calendar (if you can make it)! Sarah should be emailing everyone soon I think ;)

Enjoy your 3-day weekend!

Your 2 days off in 4 months is SERIOUSLY making me appreciate my 9/80 schedule! I am so spoiled, don't know how I'll ever go back.

I echo that complaint about treadmills. I mean, I get that gyms do that so people turn over treadmills during busy times. But, what about the 80% of the time when gyms are empty?!?

Also? The treadmills at my old gym automatically stopped if your feet weren't on the tread. I used to run intervals where I'd keep it at a very fast speed, run for a minute, jump off for 30 seconds, on, off, etc. I had to stop running that way, because the treadmill would stop every time I jumped off for more than 15 seconds - it drove me nuts!

Ugh. That is super annoying about the treadmill. That would drive me crazy, too! 30 minutes isn't very long and I'd like the data from my full run, not broken up like it would be if it shut off after 30 min!

Hopefully August comes fast and you find a great place that you love - and that is rodent free!!!
