While I was in Texas over Christmas, I took a few photos of the fam using my fancy new camera. It was hard to get everyone to agree to this but I'm glad I got documentation that we were all in the same place at the same time, which doesn't happen that often anymore.
They kvetch about this every year but I know my role: family picture-taker.
My dad used to be the picture-taker in the family, but in the last few years I've stepped in to carry the torch.
I mean, with a group this good-looking it would be a crime not to capture it for posterity.
Did I mention I love my new camera?!

Have you seen this post about people telling photographers that "your camera takes awesome photos". I find it kinda funny.
I also generally recommend this book for people just getting into photography. It's great for beginners :)
Also, I put together a little manual photography cheat sheet when I first was getting into figuring out all the features of my Canon DSLR.
